Starting her career at CNBC in Singapore as a translator 15 years ago, before moving into the dynamic world of Communications, Yvette has spent the last five years in Copenhagen with Saxo Bank’s Communications team in Copenhagen where she ran Strategic Communications for global initiatives as well as PR for the APAC region.

She brings a unique blend of rich communications consultancy experience and international insights from a broad range of global client work across media relations, public affairs, leadership advisory, strategic counsel and more. While at Saxo, she helped sharpened and professionalised the Communications function, set up the PR framework for Asia, ran media training and spokespeople coaching and also served as a business partner to various corporate functions in the organisation.

As Head of PR & Communications at BLC, she offers strategic counsel on communications processes and implementation, focused on strengthening the engagement and branding of the Community, both internally and externally. She is currently seeking new opportunities in Copenhagen/Europe/Asia, in particular senior roles in the space of Communications and Corporate Affairs, with a focus on strategy, change and transformation, executive communications and more.

Outside of work, she enjoys music, literature, film, yoga, mediation and (watching) sports. She has a Master of Arts in Film and Literature with a focus on Queer Theory. She is fluent in English and Chinese, and has French, Danish (intermediate), Cantonese and Italian (elementary).

Introduction from Yvette

Growing up, I have always loved telling stories (I was the resident storyteller with a preference of telling ghost stories to my cousins when we had stayover as kids at my grandparents’ place), reading, writing and learning languages (I won the National Translation Competition in Singapore in 2002 – Singapore is tiny but winning anything nationally still means something :p). After graduating from college with a degree in Communications and a second major in Literature, I found myself starting out as a translator at CNBC, before moving into the amazing world of corporate communications – and I’ve never looked back.

The 10 years I spent as a Communications Consultant with different agencies exposed me to an incredible range of clients. I am a problem solver by nature, and I can only say there was never a boring day trying to use creative, impactful and professional ways – not just through communications, but also in combination with other areas such as marketing, data, brand, even sales – to help them get to where they wanted to be when it comes to their brand and reputation.

To me, Strategic Communications is always about having a holistic view of the elements impacting a brand – to change perception for a brand is something that a press release or media interview alone cannot achieve, and so we must always be able to zoom out before zooming in.

I love helping people find their voice and power – be it through their delivery of the corporate narrative or through their own individual stories or even down to their style and the way they come across. I enjoy running media training, presentation and personal brand coaching and mentoring. As a person I am kind, self-motivated, adaptable, open-minded and curious, with a warm personality, good people skills. I enjoy teamwork, interaction with people from all walks of life and backgrounds, and thrive in a multicultural and international environment.
